Jena' "HoneyB" Brown and Jeanette "MsNightLyfe" Ferrell is the dynamic duo that make up Honey-Coated NightLyfe. The pair found it necessary to create a space for dope collectives to gather to better serve the needs of the communities in which they reside, grow and work. Together the two found pleasure in their private "jam sessions" and are now extending the invite to others like them.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., HoneyB started writing when she was 12 years old. She writes pieces based on her own life experiences and considers herself more of an artist than a poet. HoneyB is the host of HoneyB's Open Mic on WRTR Real Talk Radio where she features a wide range of artists from all over the world. She's also co-founder of community based event group Honey-Coated Nightlyfe.
HoneyB has been featured at Soul Sessions Open Mic and Spoken World Poetry's Open Mic in DC. She was also a Spotlight at Busboys & Poets in Hyattsville, Maryland. HoneyB can be seen at various Open Mic events in and outside the DMV area. When she's not involved with Open Mics, radio, and community events, HoneyB is busy baking as the sole owner and operator of Pound Cakes By HoneyB, offering an assorted variety of pound cakes and other tasty treats.
MsNightLyfe hails from Texas and has been writing and performing for over six years. Much of her writing chronicles The "Black Woman" experience. She earned the name "MsNightLyfe" as a result of keeping her ears to the streets for the latest trendsetters and culture rooted in hip- hop. Her work includes publications such as The S.W.E.E.T. Magazine, Velvet Truths: A Book of Love, Life, and Lessons, and Sweet Tooth Media BlogSpot. Having traveled the world sharing her art, her experience in world class events is first hand.
